We like art. Almost as much as we like artists. We like to show off the creative brilliance of Denver's art scene on our wall and on this site. Alomost as much as we like to show off our creative brilliance on your head of hair. Enjoy.

On The Wall (8)
the smaller pieces between the stations are from: Troy DeRose is a member of The Modbo Collective. He graduated from Mesa State College with a BA in Fine Art Painting in 2002. Troy now works as a graphic designer under the moniker Fixer Design. Troy’s latest show at The Modbo was entitled “Playing Nice.” Troy intended the show to be a commentary on irony and the ways we “attempt to restrain our secret motivations; the ways in which we ‘play nice.’” In an attempt to emulate this restraint, Troy imposed his own restrictions on his work, limiting his canvases to square proportions and his palette to a mere four colors. It is mostly selections from this show that you see at Locals. http://www.troyderose.com/ the big panoramic piece is from: Douglas Rouse (of Rouse 66 fame) is a self-taught, self-employed local artist who is known for his murals and trompe l’oeil painting. The pieces on display are from his latest show at The Modbo, called “Steampunk Paraphernalia and Attack of the Dinosaur.” This body of work embodies the essence and fun of the Steampunk genre, a totally fantasy-filled, technological creation. http://www.rouse66.com/ -

Donovan Abel (6)
Our new artist that we are featuring is Donovan Abel. We asked him to write a bio... I was born in Portland, Oregon. I have lived back and forth from there and colorado most of my life. My mother got me into art. I write graffiti and have been for 20+ years. I'm influenced by hiphop and underground cultures. I don't eat land animals and believe in intelligent life on other planets. I love being a father and apologize if I have graffitied your property but I have a problem... please buy my stuff... my daughter needs noodles and balloons. Donovan Abel (720)329-5917 -
